Fifteen years ago today EcoKai was founded on quality client service and volunteer work in the area of environmental consulting. The purpose was to incorporate a balanced (eco-hydrological) approach to projects in a simple environmental (Eco) office near the ocean (Kai). On Saturday June 8th, 2009, EcoKai opened a small office in downtown Manhattan Beach, the same date as the first international World Oceans Day recognized by the United Nations. While EcoKai celebrates our foundational roots, the international community celebrates World Oceans Day each year on June 8th!
During the last fifteen years EcoKai’s partnership with organizations like 1% for the Planet, Friends of Ballona Wetlands, Los Angeles Water Keeper, Kokua Hawaii Foundation, Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement and so many others have provided tremendous educational opportunities and heightened awareness of environmental issues throughout the region. I am honored that EcoKai staff members have donated thousands of hours of volunteer time in the communities we serve and donated almost $100,000 in in-kind services.
EcoKai’s success in the consulting industry continues in the great state of Texas, Hawaii, California, and Central America. Our commitment to serve and give back has not changed nor wavered from the initial mission. EcoKai’s technical expertise in water and biological services comes with outstanding client service and real world implementable environmental science solutions. It’s important to remember – Think Global and Act Local!
People are our most important resource, EcoKai is fit and held together by that which each individual Team member provides. I appreciate the progress we have made and the continued support from those who know and trust our Team. Together, we have made a difference. Todd, Carlos, Jazmin, Alonso, Dan, Kimba, Toa, Pete, and all the ohana at the Friends of Ballon Wetlands – you have made this happen – Mahalo!
Always living Aloha,
Jim
