EcoKai Supports Carbon Sequestration Research in the Ballona Ecological Reserve, Los Angeles County
Date: October, 2012
By: Jim Burton, PE

EcoKai staff members Mr. Jim Burton and Mr. Carlos Carreon recently joined UCLA PhD candidate Mr. Todd Bear for several days of field work collecting core samples that will be studied to understand the amount to carbon sequestered in various location within the Ballona Ecological Reserve.

This data collection effort is being completed as part of Mr. Bear’s PhD work at UCLA and in support of the technical studies, public access consideration, and hydrologic analyses required by the project’s environmental documentation phase for the California Coastal Conservancy and State Department of Fish and Game.

Mr. Bear’s data collection work has been completed and we have appreciated the opportunity to participate in this project as well as the support of Ms. Katie Brown (California State Park Archeologist) and Mr. Greg Escobedo (Gabrieliño-Tongva Tribal Member).
